The NYS DOT has released an updated version of the study presented below, just prior to its Public (?) Hearing on June 20, at 7:30 pm at the Farley Middle School. It appears that none of the suggestionbs made at the last hearing have made their way into their current plans, and Malloy's as well as a number of other buildings are slated for demolition. Many of these buildings form the traditional heart of Stony Point, and are not only noteworthy for their historical value, but also as vibrant, tax-ratable businesses. Here are the four plans submitted by the NYSDOT. Notice that Alternative III could be shifted slightly to the West, and Malloy's would not have to be destroyed. Read THIS to get some information about "Rapid-Built Bridges"; a technique that could spare Malloy's by demolishing the existing bridge and using pre-formed elements to quickly replace the bridge. Stony Pointers may remember some years ago Farley Bridge received an extensive overhaul requiring Northbound traffic to detour along Lowland Hill Road to bypass the bridge, and Southbound traffic to be re-0routed along West main, Reservoir Road and Rt 106 (210) back down to Rt. 9w South of the bridge.
