...running through YOUR property?

A Canadian venture looking to sell electricity into the New York City is going to run a cable under the Hudson River down to NYC. A deal with other environmental groups has forced them to relocate the cable onto land to avoid the environmentally sensitive area of Haverstraw Bay. The cable is to come out near the light house in Stony Point, run along the CSX Railraod right-of-way (the constructor may take property 660 feet to either side may be taken by Eminent Domain!!) and return to the river somewhere in Haverstraw or Clarkstown. The company will pay little or no taxes in Stony Point, and will create no jobs here. Many properties will need to be "acquired" via eminent domain (state can take your property) to install the cable alongside the CSX Railroad right-of-way.

This obviously will cause a great deal of turmoil and hardship here in Stony Point. SPACE boardmember Susan Filgueras has been waging a major fight against the company. A major official of the company spoke a few weeks ago at a town Board meeting, where he was unable to refute the concerns leveled at his plan. He will again be appearing at a Public meeting scheduled for town residents on Tuesday, February 5th, at 7pm at Farlet School. It is MOST IMPORTANT that town residents attend this meeting and speak out against this outrage.

As friends, neighbors and residents of Stony Point we owe it to our fellow townspeople to come to their assistance in this serious problem.
