A long time coming...
In 2007 then-Supervisor Marino appointed a committee to review and update the 1995 Master Plan. In 2007 they submitted a rather brief proposal to the Town Board, which asked for input at a Public Hearing. SPACE had a number of concerns and presented it's review of the document, and it's recommendations. Now, the Town Planner has submitted a new proposal to update the 1995 Plan. SPACE has some concerns about this document as well, and has prepared it's review and recommendations.
The Devil is in the details!
Members of the previous Master Plan Committee have read it and asked that some of the items be considered by the latest Master Plan Committee. This is reasonable, but some of our concerns should be addressed now, because once adopted by the Town Board, they will take on a life of their own, causing mischief! For instance, the current Proposal before the Board seeks to codify the new practice of eliminating piblic input during the Planning Board's Site Plan Review. Our experience over some 20 years is that residents sometimes present information to the P{lanning Board that results in a change to the project before them. Waiting until a SEQRA Determination is made before asking for input is most counterproductive. A better option would be for the Town Board to pass a law allowing Public Input for Site Plan Review.
